Greetings,
Most of you have seen that Governor Northam made a statement about covid yesterday and unilaterally tightened some guidelines. Here are a few initial thoughts. I will send out another email if we feel the need to give further details.
Church:
- We have taken the virus seriously and have already shown we can respond appropriately when needed. Right now, we have no indication of subsequent covid activity within our circle. That can always change and if it does, we will take appropriate steps to mitigate the spread.
- The governor’s order does not apply to church attendance (worship services are exempt). We will have both services Sunday utilizing every other pew and trusting people to make wise choices. Everyone should bring a facemask, and everyone should feel free to wear a facemask.
- The services will continue to be online for those that are uncomfortable attending.
- I will address some of the other activities with the groups that attend (basketball, volleyball, etc.)
- Tomorrow, we will continue our study of Colossians. Here is a study sheet l will hand out to those that attend in-person: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ughl5z4hhd9muh4/Col%201%2021-29%20Block%20outline.docx?dl=0
- The service will be in the auditorium.
Academy:
- We submitted our opening plan before the school year and will adhere to it. Nothing in this order changes our guidelines or plans.
- Since there is a rise in the number of cases nationwide, we are already doing some extra cleaning. The building was cleaned during our three-day break.
- As noted in Tuesday’s newsletter, every student should have a facemask at school.
- We have three months of summer care and now ten weeks of pre-school and Academy classes to evaluate and draw conclusions from. There is no indication that having in-person classes has caused issues.
- Classes will resume Monday and we will let you know if we need to make additional adjustments.
- Please be prepared. As we did earlier in the year, classes could be temporarily suspended if we sense there is a need.
Please let me know if you have questions. Once again, I appreciate the level-headed approach our church and academy family has demonstrated.
